Dr. Mohamed Al-Farran is an accomplished engineer and entrepreneur with a fascinating journey in various fields. His expertise lies in the integration of technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation, making him a valuable asset to the Egyptian entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Educational background and early career
Dr. Al-Farran’s academic journey began at Cairo University’s Faculty of Engineering – Department of Aerospace Engineering, where he honed his technical skills and developed a strong foundation in engineering principles. His passion for engineering led him to work in teaching as a researcher at the Faculty of Engineering at Cairo University, Department of Aerospace Engineering and the journey of innovation in the field of aerospace engineering began with his master’s degree in aerospace engineering and then his PHD in aerospace engineering in collaboration with North Carolina University – USA.
Adventure in the business world
Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, Dr. Mohamed Al-Farran embarked on his path towards business management, earning a Master’s degree in Information Management Systems from Egypt, followed by post-graduate studies equivalent to a PhD in Business Administration in Entrepreneurship from the United States of America. This pursuit of knowledge provided him with the necessary entrepreneurial acumen and strategic insights to navigate the world of business management, especially entrepreneurship.
A career characterized by leadership and innovation
Dr. Al-Farran’s career is a testament to his leadership abilities and innovative approach. He held the position of Director of Simulation Systems at a well-established Egyptian company in this field, then served as Director of Engineering Management at an American company operating in Egypt in the field of specialized engineering designs.
He then assumed the position of Director of Projects at Elsewedy Electrometer, a long-established Egyptian company in the field of developing and implementing smart cities, and undertook several projects in many Arab and African countries, which demonstrates his ability to manage and lead large-scale operations.
His expertise in project management was further strengthened during his tenure as Director of Project Management at Americana Egypt, a leading food and beverage company. This experience allowed him to oversee and execute complex projects, ensuring their successful completion.
Supporting entrepreneurship and innovation
Dr. Al-Farran’s passion for entrepreneurship extended beyond his academic endeavors to his professional endeavors. He has been actively involved in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, serving as a consultant for several startups and then as an advisory board member for several of the Ministry of Communications’ Innovation Egypt Digital Centers in several governorates, which made him familiar with the needs of several Egyptian geographical regions and the nature of the business and ecosystem in these regions. This reinforced his commitment to fostering innovation and supporting aspiring entrepreneurs.
During this period, he worked as a consultant and implementer of several projects under the Information Systems Authority ITIDA of the Ministry of Communications and worked as a consultant with the National Telecommunications Institute NTI to provide many and many entrepreneurial programs to support youth and innovators.
Acquiring specialized knowledge
Dr. Al-Farran’s commitment to continuous learning is evident in his pursuit of additional qualifications. A master’s degree in aerospace engineering, another in information systems management, and several training programs in entrepreneurship, management, and project management have broadened his knowledge base and experience.
During his PhD in Business Administration, with a focus on entrepreneurship, he actively participated in several courses related to entrepreneurship, which enriched his understanding of the field.

Dr. Elfarran’s current position as Director of Partnerships and Business Development at the Innovation and Creativity Fund reflects his dedication to fostering innovation and supporting entrepreneurship in Egypt.
